Sophia's Heart Gives Aid in the Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts

Natural tragedies that afflict our world and our fellow man are opportunities for us all to provide a shared human compassion as one people. In January, the powerful earthquake that devastated the nation of Haiti demolished the country’s infrastructure and claimed over 200,000 lives. Sophia’s Heart was drawn to assist relief efforts and thanks to your generous donations toward this cause, we were able to donate $3,500 to Love a Child (www.loveachild.com). This is an organization that has been serving Haiti’s children for years. Love a Child allocates 91.6% of their funds directly to the children in Haiti. There truly is no amount that is too small to make a difference in the lives of these precious children and we are grateful for every donation that was given. Thank you for all your support. Together, we were able to be one heart touching many!

SHF's Vision is in Bloom For 2010

Spring is upon us and with the change in season comes restoration and new life. Soon we will see budding leaves and flowers in bloom. We will hear the chirping of baby robins and smell the familiar scent of freshly cut grass. Spring seems to bring about hope and renewal, which are also fundamental goals of Sophia’s Heart Foundation.

Danny and Sophia Gokey shared a heart for children in their community. This was evident through the time they devotedly spent pouring into the lives of local children and their families. It is because of this continued commitment from Danny that Sophia’s Heart has developed cutting edge programming that will reach out to children, give them access to fulfilling their dreams and aspirations, and provide them with positive role models and mentors.

Danny's Idol Appearance

Hey fans! Danny will be making a guest artist appearance on March 4th on American Idol. He will perform a song from his debut album My Best Days, which hits local and online retailers Tuesday, March 2nd. Stay posted for an “official” announcement in the near future!

• MUSIC & ARTS PROGRAMS
  
  2010 presents a significant milestone for Sophia’s Heart Foundation. This is the year in which we will launch the first of four after school programs we have worked so fervently to develop. For one, our Modern Cultural Community Choir is designed to give children the opportunity to select current billboard hits and use them to explore musical rearrangement and incorporate musical elements from various cultures. The genre will change weekly, allowing these children to expand beyond their usual musical preferences.
  
  This first program will initially launch in Milwaukee, WI and Nashville, TN. Partnerships have been secured with the St. Marcus school in Milwaukee, and negotiations are being made in Nashville. Our vision is to grow and add more schools and we welcome the involvement of any children who meet the age requirements in these particular locations.
